How Design Enhances Learning
Why design and aesthetics are important in engaging audiences and presenting work—and how bulb’s design enhances learning.
1. Design affects how we feel and whether or not we’ll engage
When a program, lesson, or even a classroom is designed well, students are more likely to engage with the activity, therefore getting more out of it.
2. Human identity is fluid, and influenced by what we’re looking at
This is why when looking at a dark sky, we’re more likely to feel moody, or sitting at a cluttered desk we’re more likely to feel stressed. When it comes to bulb’s design, simplicity and beauty are paramount, helping the user feel calm, focused, and confident in their creations.
3. The learning environment influences student behavior
Students perform and behave better when in a positive environment—whether physical or digital. With more and more of our environments moving online, it’s time to give our app design as much thought as our classrooms.
4. Simple design leaves more time for the important stuff
When a software program is intuitive, the user is able to focus their mental efforts on their goal—in bulb’s case, publishing and sharing great work—without getting lost in “how to” create the content. No company or organization would pay for clunky, confusing software—why should schools?
5. Color impacts our mood, and our mood impacts our learning
Color indisputably impacts how we feel and how we feel has huge implications on our learning and work. bulb utilizes a color palette that inspires creativity, focus, and happiness.
