DMIMS Documents Professional Growth in the Medical Field with bulb

bulb Digital Portfolios recently partnered with The Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences in Wardha, India to provide students with a space to document professional and personal growth in the medical field. bulb’s various upload and share features create excellent opportunities for students to display, share, and receive comments on their posts.

The Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences is a university that offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma level courses in allied health sciences, ayurveda, dentistry, medicine, and nursing. The 125 acre campus is located in Sawangi (Meghe), Wardha which about 80kms from the geographical center of India. Away from the commotion of the city, DMIMS’s serene location allows for an excellent academic atmosphere.

Recently it has become a necessary requirement for Medical Students to have and maintain a professional portfolio that documents and showcases their learning journey. As they embark into their careers as doctors, these portfolios are regularly updated to show continued professional development. To support their students in starting their portfolios, DMIMS have introduced bulb. The staff member within the university who is in charge of bulb monitors and support bulb uses explains their experiences with bulb so far and their vision for the platform:

I thank the bulb portfolio team for providing our students with an experience that will be everlasting. The students have an opportunity to record not only their academic achievements but also each activity that they are involved in. The features of voice recording, video recording, website links, etc. is a very useful tool for students. Teachers are able to view the posts recorded by the students and also able to comment on the same. Sharing of data with stakeholders is an easy task. Quite a number of our students have uploaded their social media links on their bulb links. We find that with the current requirements of the NMC on achieving specific skills can be achieved easily with the pages created by the students. Most medical students have not prepared their resume, the resume builder feature in bulb has helped the students considerably. We are devising various formats for medical students in order to utilize the digital portfolios.
